Friends of the North Highland Way include Ordnance Survey, View Ranger, Walking World and Better Century. South Regional College in Northern Ireland has become a “Friend of the North Highland Way” by developing the passport to the North Highland Way. Students of the class of 2018/2019 of the Level 3 Art and Design Course in Lurgan worked hard on the graphics for the passport which is now available as part of the “Friends” package. Author Peter Wright (who volunteered for the John Muir Trust for many years and provided us with copies of “Ribbon of Wilderness” and “Nature’s Peace”), author Peter Hill (who kindly donated his book “I May be gone for some time”), Stuart Prince who wrote the book “Barry Beats Britain: The Coasters GB Story” in which there is a significant section about the far north.
Accommodation providers in the area are invited to submit walks in their area in return for a link on the accommodation map we are producing. Accommodation in the area between John o Groats and Durness and 10 miles inland outwith this area should Accommodation providers sign up page. We are in touch with a couple of guides in the area and looking at guided tours. Tours are ex Inverness but itineraries and accommodation will be the responsibility of the guide.
10% of the profits from this project go to the John Muir Trust which has the same aims and objectives as the developer of the Way.
At this stage, this does not include travel and tour products. This is at the discretion of the suppliers.
